Alpha Course

Alpha Course

 It is a place to share your thoughts and explore the meaning of life. The course is designed primarily for people who don't go to church or who haven't been to church in a long time and are interested in the Christian faith..

Lighthouse takes place on the 4th Friday of every month meeting          at 3 30 pm straight after school hours.

Church Sunday Service starts at 10.00am

Usually the Services are as follows:

1st Sunday: Holy Communion.

2nd Sunday: All Age Worship.

3rd Sunday: Holy Communion.

4th Sunday: Morning Prayer.

5th Sunday: All Age Communion.

 Other Church Activities include:  

  • Three House Groups
  • A ladies group that goes out each month
  • Lunch Club every third Monday of the month held in Tupton Village Hall.
  • Children's work including Lighthouse, Holiday Club, Experience Easter/Christmas Primary School Assemblies.
  • “Snowdrops” group, open to all in the North Wingfield Team on the third Thursday of every month here at St. Johns between 11.00am and 12.30pm. The group was started to help people come to terms with one of life’s most difficult experiences, that of the death of a loved one.

St. John’s Church was built in 1889 and is situated on the main road, directly opposite the local Primary School, and Green Lane which leads to the centre of the village with its local shops and amenities.

Our aim is to reach out and engage with our community in a new and exciting way.

• To encourage growth and discipleship

• To improve communication both internally and externally

• Encourage, recognise and enable new leaders, their gifts and abilities • Growing and nurturing new home groups

• To engage with local committees, working with and promoting community spirit

• To work with other denominations of churches in Tupton

• To promote and encourage new groups to use St John’ s church and church hall, creating a varied and extensive programme of community events.

• Social events, concerts etc.

Directions:

From the North - from Chesterfield follow A61 south for approximately 3 miles. At the first roundabout turn left onto Queen Victoria Road (passing the New Inn) and we are on the left hand side.

From the South - from Clay Cross follow the A61 north for approximately 2 miles. Carry onto the second roundabout that you meet and turn right into Queen Victoria Road.
